Nowadays m3labs is closed. But you can feel some "waves" when you stop in front of 
the building, that probably soon will be a hotel. Economic interests against 
"socio-cultural/technological" free places. You know...

"To be free, firstly, hack your mind"

The Net must be a neutral infrastructure where human knowledge is stored and where free communications 
are stablished; nevermind the barriers (being physical, moral, religious, sexual, ideological, political, 
frontiers or whichever form they may take to stand in the way of free information movement); not even their 
origin (government, coporations, societies, individuals or third parties with hidden interests). Without a 
doubt, it is an evolutionary step towards collective conscience, which will enable to understand the human 
destiny as a whole in the future. This is the most important space in history for free knowledge interchange, 
created -by and for- the people. It is a great source of information needed for intellectual, artistic and
 cultural development, both for individuals and for societies, that must be equally approachable by all human beings.

No to the digital divide!

Hacker`s culture plays a fundamental role in order to avoid the digital divide`s expansion, and must try to turn it 
around by means of suggesting changes, modifing the attitude of the general public towards new technologies, and 
moreover, sending a straightforward message: information and knowledge are a power for those who control it. 
Internet is the means, and messages flow through it.

Neutrality must survive on the Net!

Hackers are revolutionaries, because they bring a clear intellectual desire: the search for knowledge and the search 
for an ethic based on information freedom and a collective passion. They are the creators of the new world.

M3Labs Bilbao`s essence takes base on that idea, the creation of a collective experimentation laboratory that fills people 
with new vibrations, where the intellect primes upon aesthetic fashions. A place where people can share their knowledge freely,
participating and building a pleasant environment, where hackers, hacktivists, videocreators and dj`s can meet, discuss, learn, 
listen, teach, understand, create, study, feel, codify and all in all, develop their beings toghether with similar eager minds 
and generate new knowledge societies.

Technology, without art or a social interaction, is nothing more than a finite, valued, cold and individualistic instrument. 

Technology must be used to serve people as an elongation of their senses. Never to be used to control people, spy on them,
 or with severe lucrative aims. Its use must be expanded freely around the planet, where sharing will always be good, 
and where privacy must not be corrupted by the interests of a minority.

Freedom must never be forgotten because of security!

Hacktivism is a form of response, the civic organization method through technologies, and a critical vision of life. 
Its figure is represented by the hacktivist, a "hacking lover", who looks for a total and universal respect of human rights, 
who lives -for and to- the people. Hacktivists are not limited to system or data infrastructure hacking, or code creation 
to promote free licenses, but to penetrate into the minds of those behind the machines to suggest social and political changes.

Today`s hacktivism fights for tomorrow`s freedom.
